The art of Aikido focuses on using the energy of the attacker in order to eliminate the attack. Morihei Ueshiba Sensei developed Aikido from his experience with Daito Ryu Aiki Jujitsu. He took a collection of techniques and added a philosophical aspect, and thus it became a "Do" or a "way". The style of Aikido taught at our school is Yoshinkan Aikido that was developed by Gozo Shioda Soke who lived and trained with Ueshiba Sensei for more than a decade. Shioda Soke then took this style and introduced it to the Tokyo police. Even to this day, the Tokyo riot police require a black belt in Yoshinkan Aikido to join their esteemed ranks.
